Search & Rescue

Check out Jennifer Anderson Ryder’s unique partnership, all based on her eyes and his nose!

Dogs must be able to move quickly and safely through things like pipes, crumbled walls, toppled cars, dense woods, and wade through water and marshy areas in order to complete their search, all while looking for those who are missing or even dead.

Most of us can’t relate to being in a highly stressful situation like these, but the key is the unique relationship between a dog and their handler. Their focus on leadership, trust, play, teamwork, focus, and steady emotions all come together to accomplish the same goal: successfully completing a search.

Like any team, effective communication is one of the keys to success, but here, effective communication can mean saving lives. Through their rigorous training, skilled handling, and mindful leadership, Jennifer and Ryder’s profound partnership shows us what is possible when two species work together, rely on each other, and are dedicated to saving others.
